Dear Friends,
Over the last six years we have been witnessed to the greatest abuse of our government in the history of our state. We have seen the greatest reduction of services rendered to our citizens from education to medical assistance. Yet we have seen big corporations and the rich reap the benefits of tax breaks that do nothing to help Arizona. We have seen the passage of laws that are aimed to divide our state’s residents against each other. From Senate Bill 1070 to the proposal of denying American citizens their rights under the 14th amendment and the United States Constitution our state is divided and in the words of Abraham Lincoln “A house divided cannot stand.”
As a native of Arizona, I have grown up in an education system that the Republicans call broken and inefficient. During my education, I had the opportunity to be in an education system that was near the middle of the pack in spending and I believe I got a great education. It pains me as a parent to know that the very same system my children have entered has fallen to the bottom of all nationally ranked public education systems in this country. Why has this happened? It is because the Republican leadership has chosen to ignore the citizens, students and parents of this state infavor to big corporations, the rich and well connected. By ignoring the citizens of this state they have given billions upon billions of dollars away in tax breaks, subsidies and abatements that have not been a good investment in the future of Arizona.
We cannot stand by and watch our state be torn to shreds so that a few people can line their pockets with our money, the Taxpayers money. We cannot allow the work our founding fathers of this state to be undone. We must invest in the future much like our founding fathers did nearly a century ago. We cannot let problems that are not our responsibility to divide us, confuse us or get in our way. We cannot let ourselves be taken advantage of, or the lied to about who is responsible for this mess. We the citizens of the State of Arizona must put blame where it belongs. Squarely on the Republican leadership, for they have been in control of the budget, they are responsible for irresponsible financial policies that have harmed Arizona.
This is why I am running for the Arizona State Senate. Please help me take back our government so that we can end partisan politics and the ideological logjam that continues to threaten Arizona’s future. Help me end the division in our community because of SB 1070. Let’s work together, not against each other. This is what our founding fathers wanted us to do.
